PRE-PHYSICAL THERAPY AND PRE-OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

The College at Oneonta has articulated programs in Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy with the Sage Graduate School in Troy, NY and in Physical Therapy with the SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. There are 4 + 3 programs in Physical Therapy with both schools and a 4 + 2 Program in Occupational Therapy with Sage, four years and a bachelors degree at Oneonta followed by two years of graduate study at Sage. The Upstate and Sage PT programs lead to DPT degrees; the Sage OT program leads to an MOT degree.

In addition, the College has an articulated 3 + 3 Program in Physical Therapy with Upstate that leads to a BS degree with a Biology major from Oneonta and a DPT degree from Upstate in a total of six years. Admission to this program is highly competitive and is separate from admission to the College; it is administered by Upstate. Applications to this program can be made by high school seniors or first or second year students at Oneonta. For details, please see Dr. Armstrong.

The Sage programs guarantee admission to Oneonta students who apply during their junior year and have above the specified GPA’s overall and in the required science courses and have earned C’s or better in all of the courses required for the program. Aside from students in Upstate’s Early Admission Program, admission to Upstate’s DPT program is not guaranteed and is competitive. Please see Dr. Armstrong for details about admission to these programs.

Pre-PT and OT students, other than those in the Upstate 3 + 3 PT program, can complete any major at Oneonta as long as they complete the course work required for the specific program.
