Specific Goals and Objectives for the Students in the
Oneonta Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in Music Industry


Goal: To prepare students for music and entertainment industry careers or graduate study by giving them an understanding of the creative centers and business organization of the domestic and worldwide music and entertainment industries

Objective: students will learn the business and legal structure and practices of the music and entertainment industries

Objective: Students will learn the historical and cultural context of the modern music and entertainment industry

Objective: Students will gain comprehension of the global nature of the music and entertainment industries.

Objective: Students will gain practical understanding of classroom theories by serving successful internships in the music and entertainment industry.

Objective: Students will learn effective and organized written and oral communication skills.

Objective: Students will be able to demonstrate basic computer literacy including skills in word processing, database, spreadsheet, webpage construction and computer-based research.

Objective: Students will learn standard concepts of music theory including part-writing, counterpoint, ear-training, sight-reading and theoretical analysis of music from a variety of eras and styles.

Objective: Students will perform in areas appropriate to their need and interest, learn to sight-read and develop an ability to realize a variety of musical styles.
