Learning Centers around the country have made information available on a variety of study skills topics.  We've categorized some really great sites.  If you find others you'd like us to include here, please e-mail our webmaster.  Please realize that we try to keep the links up to date by constantly researching these topics.  If you happen to find a dead link, please let us know.

First we recommend that you take an on-line study-skills survey to find out what you should concentrate on improving.  (Thanks to VA Tech for providing this valuable service on the web!!)

What ARE Study Skills I should work on?

Educational psychologists and theorists have worked for many years to identify the skills that students need to master in order to succeed.  This site from the University of Minnesota Duluth provides a great list of the study skills that have been identified as crucial for all students.

The University of Central Florida provides wonderful study skills handouts via the web.  Virginia Tech provides a great "Self-Help" guide to get you started.  Oklahoma State University's College-Prep 101 is a fabulous site, too.

We highly recommend that wherever you start in your search, that you realize that there are many ways to become a more efficient learner.  These strategies are only worthwhile if you try them out and see how they work for you.

Below are some sites we've found from universities around the country (and around the world, too).  Once you get into their sites, you might consider looking around.  You might find some useful information on related pages.

University of Victoria

University of Illinois at Chicago

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

University of Guelph  This is a free resource (for now), but may become a fee-based service in the future.  If you find that it has switched over to a fee-based service, please email SUNY-Oneonta LSS's webmaster to notify us of this change.
