Study Abroad

SUNY Oneonta offers semester, summer, and academic year-long programs through 12 study abroad and exchange international partner universities and many short-term faculty-led programs through the Office of Global Education (OGE). The short-term faculty-led programs offered throughout the year are courses taught by SUNY Oneonta faculty for credit and include cultural experiences and, often, service-learning opportunities. Schedule an advising meeting with a Study Abroad Professional or Peer Advisor to learn more.

Oneonta students also have access to more than 1,000 study abroad, exchange and international internship programs through all SUNY institutions. See all options on the SUNY-wide Study Abroad Website.

REQUIRED for SUNY Oneonta students AFTER you are accepted to a different SUNY program (non-Oneonta SUNY programs):

  1. Visit the OGE Global Portal to create your account (with your SUNY Oneonta username and password).
  2. Go to "Programs" and search for "Other SUNY Programs" (type in search bar). Select the "Other SUNY Programs" option, click "Apply", and choose the correct term to complete the required Oneonta forms (includes Course Approval Form & Program Info).

All SUNY Oneonta students studying abroad must submit a Course Approval Form to the Office of Global Education in the semester BEFORE their term abroad so that they are registered as a study abroad student. This must be signed by Academic Advisement for any courses to count for electives, and by your Department Chair if you want a course to count as a major course.

NOTE: If interested in a NON-SUNY program (not through any SUNY school), students must contact the OGE for help determining whether course credit may be received for the program and to complete the correct forms.

Select "Other SUNY Programs" in the OGE Global Portal if you have been accepted to a study abroad program through a SUNY school other than SUNY Oneonta (to complete your required Course Approval Form).
