Siberian State Aerospace University
"The City of Fountains"

Since 1998, the Siberian State Aerospace University (SibSAU) in Krasnoyarsk, Russia has partnered with SUNY College at Oneonta. The direct study abroad experience is open to all majors. Students study for the summer, taking Oneonta communication studies or business economics courses. Students earn up to 6 credit hours of SUNY coursework taught by a SUNY College at Oneonta faculty member.

Location and Demographics
Krasnoyarsk is known as “the City of Fountains” and is a distinguished scientific and educational center.  Located just east of the center of Russia, near the Yenisei River, it is the third largest city in Siberia.  The city has a plethora of historical buildings, museums, and theatres.  The towns are populated with quaint cafés, street vendors, souvenir and antique shops, and fine restaurants.  Historical churches and cathedrals with intriguing architecture amidst the backdrop of gorgeous cliffs, forests, and national parks offer memorable scenes.  Cultural events are prolific, celebrating the city’s history of jazz, museums, outdoor activities, art, dance, and music. The city has a railway system and airport, with routes to Moscow.

The Campus
Founded in 1959, the university’s rich history and intriguing architecture complement its distinguished faculty and coursework taught in English or Russian. Students are required to take Russian language and history/culture as part of their curriculum. The unversity is adept at providing students with a customized curriculum. The expansive campus is divided among its disciplines. SibSAU offers coursework in English or Russian and is open to all majors and while studying abroad. Students experience the best of Russian culture, food, and engaging field trips along with a top quality education. Class sizes are small amidst a campus of 4,000 undergraduates. 

About the Program
The summer program is open to all majors but is ideal for Communications or Business majors. SUNY Oneonta Communication Studies and/or Business courses are taught during this four week program.

On-campus, Apartment style.

Applications and inquiries should be directed to SUNY College at Oneonta Office of International Education only. A completed SUNY Overseas Academic Programs Application for the Summer program is February 1st each year.

Cost for the semester or summer program is affordable for in-state and out-of-state residents.

Eligibility
Eligibility for studying at SibSAU includes sophomore standing, cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and faculty recommendation.

Prospective Students

Our Location Founded in 1889 in “Honor and Good Faith,” the College is strategically located in beautiful upstate New York. Oneonta is home to the Foothills Performing Arts Center and just 30 minutes to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
The campus is surrounded by 360 degree mountain views and is close to the Catskill Mountains. Upstate NewYork is a four-season state with mild summers, cool nights, and beautiful spring foliage. Fall is colorful and winters offer plenty of snow, ideal for snowboarding and skiing. The campus is 4.5 hours to New York City (NYC) by bus and 1 hour from Albany, the capital of New York and a major shopping area.
Oneonta has a progressive, local and interstate bus system running 7 days per week with routine stops on campus. DowntownOneonta is walking distance from SUNY and has local shopping, unique gift shops, restaurants, farmer’s markets, and entertainment in this historic city. A nearby shopping mall is a short distance to the campus by bus.
The Albany International Airport is just over 1 hour away—The OIE office provides free airport pickup for new student arrivals. JFK International Airport is also within reach and has an Airtrack/railway/bus system direct to Oneonta.
