Undergraduate Admission Criteria for International Students
The State University of New York (SUNY) Oneonta welcomes qualified applicants from around the world. The College recognizes the intellectual and cultural contributions that international students offer while diversifying its campus.
In addition to its high quality degree programs, the College is a friendly and safe environment. Over 100 international students representing 26 countries study at Oneonta, among its 6,000 undergraduates.
- A minimum iBT/PBT TOEFL score of 61/500 or SAT 1137 Scores (Critical Reading & Math) is required for consideration of undergraduate admission. An iBT/PBT score of 79/550 or higher is strongly recommended to
meet the demands of our degree programs.
- The College also accepts ELS Language Certificate Scores of 112 and IELTS Bandwidth Scores of 6.5 or
higher (no sub-score below 6.0) for consideration of admission.
- Students may be conditionally admitted to the SUNY Oneonta without a TOEFL or comparable score report
but may be required to take appropriate ESL coursework in preparation for, or in combination with, select undergraduate coursework or, be placed on limited course enrollment for the first semester only.
- English as a Second Language (ESL) courses are offered on campus. Resources on campus include a
Language Lab, The Center for Academic Development and Enrichment (CADE), Writing Center, and peer
and professional tutoring services.
