Phi Upsilon Omicron (Beta Omicron Chapter)

Phi Upsilon Omicron is an honorary fraternity whose purpose is to advance Human Ecology and to be of service to the profession. An invitation to become a member is extended to students who rank in the upper third of their class (usually a 3.0 GPA or better) and have demonstrated leadership abilities in class and student organizations. The Chapter sponsors group activities, speakers, projects, and trips.

Group members participate in a yearly professional project, fundraisers, and a biennial conclave, which meets every even year. Phi U activities promote professional development, as well as networking with peers and professionals. Each year, the national organization offers many scholarships, fellowships, and awards.

The group's yearly professional project for "Stop the Hurt Week" included fundraising for Family Services through a Skate-a-thon. The group is looking forward to initiation of new members for the spring semester. Any Human Ecology major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better is invited to apply.

The Student Fashion Society (SFS) is an organization open to all students interested in fashion. It was founded to promote a better understanding of the dynamic and multidimensional nature of the fashion business. Students are able to apply classroom knowledge and further develop their interest in fashion through SFS membership and activities. The SFS schedules a wide range of activities for group members including guest speakers from industry, field trips to New York City, and opportunities to participate in setting up displays as well as other special events. The students present major fashion shows every year, as well as participate in fundraising, service projects, and volunteer activities within the community.
