Food and Nutrition programs were developed in 1969.
In 1972, the Dietetics major was approved and in 1974, Food
and Business was developed as an interdisciplinary program.
In 1998, the Food and Business program was revised and is
now called Food Service and Restaurant Administration. Courses
were renamed to reflect the broader mission.
Course content is revised on a continuing basis to keep current
with the changing demands of the foodservice industry. Click

and Foodservice Majors. The Dietetics program has been revised
numerous times since its inception in order that the current
requirements of The American Dietetic Association (ADA) are
met or exceeded. The program has been granted Developmental
Accreditation by CADE of the DA to offer a didactic program
in dietetics (DPD).
In 1997, the New York State Education Department (SED) approved
Oneonta's program as a licensure-qualifying baccalaureate
program. This means that graduates of the Dietetics program
have met the SED educational criteria for the Certified Dietitian
Nutritionist (CDN) credential upon graduation. Applicants
for the CDN credential must complete SED's additional requirements
for experience and examination and submit the required fee.
The Department has recently been granted Developmental Accrediatation
by the ADA to offer a GRADUATE DIETETIC INTERNSHIP starting
in 2001.
