Elementary Education Foreign Language Majors
Spanish Concentration Requirements
(30 hrs)
[for students beginning Fall 2009 and after]
Note: SPAN104 or approved equivalent (i.e., 4 years of high school Spanish) is prerequisite to begin the Spanish Concentration.
- Required Courses-- Complete ALL of the following (21 hrs):
- SPAN201 Review of Spanish Grammar (prereq. SPAN104)
- SPAN202 Advanced Spanish Usage I (prereq. SPAN104)
- SPAN203 Advanced Spanish Usage II (prereq. SPAN202)
- SPAN204 Civilization of the Spanish-Speaking World (prereq. C+ or better in SPAN203)
- SPAN208 Introduction to Spanish Literature (prereq. C+ or better in SPAN203)
- SPAN212 Conversational Spanish (prereq. C+ or betterin SPAN203) or SPAN215 Spanish for Native Speakers (prereq. SPAN104 or permission of instructor)
- SPAN214 Spanish Phonetics (C+ or better in SPAN203)
- Spanish Electives-- Complete THREE of the following (9 hrs), at least 6s.h. of which MUST be numbered 300 or above:
- Any Spanish course not used above, numbered between Spanish 200-399. Note: no more than 3s.h. of Spanish mini courses may count towards the concentration.
