Because he has always enjoyed teaching, Mr. Caswell has come out of retirement to teach French. In his "first career" as a U.S. diplomatic and consular officer, his responsibilities included English-French translation and interpreting. He worked in American embassies in North and West Africa as well as in the State Department in Washington. In his long career at SUCO, he served primarily as Director of International Education, but also additionally for a time as an Associate Professor of French. He has advised many students about study abroad opportunities, and organized programs and exchanges in France, Quebec and elsewhere.
