The Educational Technology Committee
(ETC) is advisory to the College through the Vice President for Academic
Affairs and the Vice Prsident for Finance and Administration about
matters pertaining to educational technology. The ETC serves as an
advisory group for the Associate Provost for Library and Information
Services. The Committee is the primary avenue for faculty input about
policies, procedures, and operations of the Academic Information Technology
unit.
Charge to the Committee
The Educational Technology Committee
is a consultative group that recommends plans for incorporating technology
into teaching and learning at the College at Oneonta.
The Committee recommends standards,
where appropriate, for the purchase and support of computer hardware,
software, and other educational technology.
The Committee recommends priorities
for the expenditure of educational technology funds available on campus.
The Committee recommends plans
and advises about the implementation of the UnCAS program.
Members of the ETC represent
the College at large but also articulate to the committee the programmatic
interests of the areas they are appointed to represent.

Operating Principles
Academic members will serve for
a maximum of four years. Non-voting members shall serve for two-year
renewable terms. Ex-offcio members are permanent members of the ETC,
based on their offices. All committee appointments will be made on
an academic year basis, effective from September through August.
Meetings are held biweekly, as
scheduling permits, during fall and spring semesters and other times
as necessary.
Seven voting members (a majority
of whom must be members of the classroom teaching faculty) must be
present to have a quorum.
Minutes of the meetings shall
be recorded, posted on the World Wide Web, and distributed to members
and to the Vice Presidents and President..
All meetings are open to the
members of the campus community.
The Technology Steering Committee
(TSC) is a group whose function is to coordinate activities of the
ETC, the Teaching, Learning, and Technology Center (TLTC), Academic
Information Technology Services (AITS), Administrative Computer Services,
and Telecommunications. The working group of the TSC consists of the
Chair and Vice-Chair of the ETC, the Associate Provost for Library
and Information Services, the Director of Computer Serivces, and the
Director of Telecommunications. The TSC can recommend agenda items
to the ETC.
