Ginnah Howard will be reading from her recent novel, Night Navigation (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
2009). Her work has also appeared in Water~Stone Review, Portland Review, Permafrost, Phoebe,
Ballyhoo, and elsewhere. Several of her stories have been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
Night Navigation opens on a black-ice night in upstate New York: the kindling’s gone; the
woodstove is out. Mark Merrick has lined up a bed near the Canadian border to begin detoxing
from a heroin addiction. Since his license has been suspended and he’s unable to get a ride,
Mark’s mother, Del, with much trepidation, finally agrees to make the long drive north.
The reading will be followed by a reception and book signing.
