Dr. Choonoo has taught in both the English department and the Africana and Latino Studies Program since 1975. He completed his Teacher’s Diploma at Springfield College, South Africa and his B.A. at Western Illinois University. He holds one M.A. from the City College of New York and another from Columbia University, where he completed his Ph.D. in 1982. Dr. Choonoo is an active participant of Peace of Mind, a progressive organization dealing with issues of discrimination and exploitation around the world, and is also the recipient of two NEH grants. He has published many articles and reviews and is currently conducting research on African postcolonial literature. |
