The Department houses undergraduate programs in:

Note:  All education programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and approved by the New York State Regents and New York State Education Department. Although this information was accurate when posted, students should check with their advisor or the Office of Education Advisement & Field Experience concerning course or programmatic changes before matriculating into or registering for courses in these programs.

The curriculum in each of these teacher education programs have three dimensions: general education, content education, and professional education. These dimensions are intended to produce professionals who will be effective facilitators of learning. To view these three dimensions, click here.

The Department also houses two graduate programs. The Masters of Science in Secondary Education is available to students who have obtained a bachelors degree in secondary education and who are licensed to teach. Our newest program is a Masters of Science in Education in Family and Consumer Science. 

The teacher preparation programs detailed above, meet all New York State Board of Education regulations and the NCATE standards. A better understanding of the educational intent of these programs can be obtained by a review of the Division of Education's Conceptual Framework.
