Admission Requirements
All students applying for admission to degree status are required to:

1. Submit a completed application and the non-refundable fee.

2. Submit a copy of your New York State provisional teaching certificate or initial teaching certificate in Secondary or Adolescence Education: Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, English, French, Mathematics, Physics, Social Studies, or Spanish.

3. Submit an official transcript of an earned Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college.

4. Have achieved an undergraduate GPA of 2.8 overall and 3.0 in the major field during the last two years of undergraduate work.

5. Submit official scores from the GRE General Test with a minimum verbal score of 450.

6. Submit an essay reflecting on the candidate's undergraduate program and teaching experiences and how they connect to Oneonta's Conceptual Framework. Include references to at least five professional articles or books.

7. Submit three letters of reference.

8. Have a personal interview at the discretion of the department.

Admission is competitive and meeting the minimum admission criteria does not guarantee acceptance.
