Admission Requirements

Master of Science in Education (M.S. Ed) - Childhood Education
  1. Submit a completed application and the non-refundable fee.
  2. Submit a copy of New York State provisional or initial teaching certification in elementary education.
  3. Submit an official transcript of an earned Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college.
  4. Have achieved an undergraduate GPA of 2.8 overall and 3.0 in the major field during the last two years of undergraduate work.
  5. GRE scores optional.
Admission materials are accepted for summer, fall or spring semesters.
 
Master of Science in Education (M.S. Ed) - Literacy Education
  1. Submit a completed application and the non-refundable fee.
  2. Submit a copy of New York State provisional or initial teaching certification in a functionally relevant area.
  3. Submit an official transcript of an earned Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college.
  4. Have achieved an undergraduate GPA of 2.8 overall and 3.0 in the major field during the last two years of undergraduate work.
  5. GRE scores optional.
  6. Have earned at least 3 credits of developmental psychology, child or adolescent development.
  7. Have earned at least 6 credits in reading or the teaching of reading.
Application materials are accepted for summer, fall or spring semesters.
 
Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed) Educational Technology Specialist (K-12)
  1. Submit a completed application and the non-refundable fee.
  2. Submit a copy of New York State Initial teaching certification. (Teaching certificates from other states are considered.)
  3. Submit an official transcript of an earned Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college.
  4. Have achieved an undergraduate GPA of 2.8 overall and 3.0 in the major field during the last two years of undergraduate work.
  5. Submit scores from the analytical writing sections of the NYSTCE (or its equivalent).  GRE General Test may be used as a substitute.
  6. Submit three letters of reference.
  7. Have a personal interview at the discretion of the department.
 
Master of Science in Education (M.S.ED) Special Education: Early Childhood Education
  1. Submit a completed application and the non-refundable fee.
  2. Submit a copy of a New York State Initial teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education.
  3. Submit an official transcript of an earned Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college.
  4. Have achieved an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 overall and a 3.0 in major field during the last two years of undergraduate work.
  5. GRE scores optional.
  6. Submit an essay reflecting on your student teaching and/or teaching experiences with students with special needs and identify one area of special needs that you would like to learn more about. Describe some of the issues you would discuss with a parent/guardian. Also descscribe two teaching adaptations that you might make for a child with special needs. Include references to at least five professional articles or books.
  7. Submit three letters of reference.
  8. Complete a personal interview.
 
Master of Science in Education (M.S.ED) Special Education: Childhood Education
