The Best and Brightest for 2007-2008
Adolescence Education: Earth Science & Earth Science, Troy Banks, nominated by Richard Grimaldi - Troy is currently working on an independent research project on mafic dikes in the Adirondacks. He has attended the Emerging Leaders Conference, Leadership Institute, and Association of College Unions International Conference. He is a Resident Advisor and Internal Affairs Committee Chair for the Resident Student Organization.
Adolescence Education: Chemistry & Chemistry, Sara J. Barsukoff, nominated by Harry Pence Sarah has served as a tutor, lab assistant and Resident Advisor. She is actively involved in the community as a volunteer for the SPCA and for "Up til Dawn," raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Adolescence Education: Social Studies, Michael Boland, nominated by Iain Byrne.
Michael was selected for the 2007 SUNYAC All-Academic list after a stellar season on the men's soccer team. He has been active in the community through the SUNYAC leaf-raking project, the Migrant Workers Christmas Project, the local Habitat for Humanity, and the Spring Soccer Camp.

Melissa is a member of Phi Sigma Iota, the International Foreign Language Honor Society, and a recipient of the Susan Sutton Smith Award. She has been active on campus in the Spanish Club and served as a Resident Advisor and tutor. In the community, Melissa is active in the Girl Scouts and Harvest of Hope.

Elizabeth has participated in two professional conferences and recently presented an original research paper at the Northeast sectional meeting of the Geological Society of america. she has been active as an EOP tutor and mentor, at the PREPS summer science camp, and in the Summer in the City Internship Program.
Adolescence Education: Chemistry, Mark Dittmar nominated by George Weinschenk.
Mark is an exemplary student and an inspiration to others. He is a mentor for the Mentor Community, a team leader for Relay for Life, a coach for the Boys' Gymnastics team at the YMCA, and a computer technician for his church.

Kimberly is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. She is President and founding Executive Board member of Rock to Cure, a club that raises money for the American Cancer Society through rock concerts and pop music events.

nominated by James Ebert - Ashley is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, the SUNYAC Commissioner's List and SUNYAC All-Academic Team. She has been active in the PREPS Science Camp, Girl Scouts, and American Heart Association.

An impressive student-athlete, Adam is a member of the Sanford Society and has served as a Resident Advisor. He is a residence hall weight room manager and has been involved in community events including Leaf Raking day.
Adolescence Education: Mathematics, Michael Hamilton, nominated by Duane Ritter.
Michael is a varsity letter winner and a leader on the wrestling team both athletically and academically. He is actively involved in community service such as Migrant Christmas Giving Tree, Halloween Fun Run, flood relief and OH Fest.
Adolescence Education: Social Studies,George Marshall, Jr., nominated by Elaine Lawrence. An exceptional student, George is an active member of the Association for Secondary Educators and has served as Vice President for the History Club. He works as a substitute teacher in area schools, and as a playwright, several of his works have been produced at a community college.

An exceptional student, Brian is a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. He is a professional magician using his talents for volunteer work including performing for Buffalo's School 84, Special Kids Picnic, and Rock to Cure.

Latisha is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa, Order of Omega, and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies. She is a Resident Advisor and AALANA Mentor and an active volunteer for programs including Into the Streets, Saturday's Bread, Breast Cancer Walk, AIDS Walk, and Oneonta Rotary Club Computers for Students.

Mary is an exemplary student and has won the Scott Jenkins Minority Scholarship from fall 2004 to present. She interned for two summers with Summer in the City, worked as a teacher's aide, and served as an ALAANA Peer Mentor.

Kathryn Sturm, nominated by Rosemarie Avanzato - Kathryn is a member of the Kappa Delta Pi and Upsilon Omicron Honor societies. She is an active member in the Association of Secondary Educators and a student member of the NYS Association of Family Consumer Sciences Educators. She is involved in a service-learning project, "The Cinderella Project," and recently joined the Chamber Orchestra.
Adolescence Education: Earth Science, Benjamin Tangney, nominated by Paul Bischoff and James Ebert - Benjamin is an excellent student with a strong academic record. He serves as a freshman mentor and tutor, volunteers as a tutor for Oneonta Job Corps, and serves as a teacher's aide for special needs children in his hometown school.
