In The Spotlight
Dr. Jerome Blechman

Dr. Jerome Blechman  is a Professor of Meteorology. He was an undergraduate in Meteorology at New York University School of Engineering and Science in the Bronx and when he graduated in 1973, they sold the school! His only explanation is that after he received his degree they must have felt they could never improve on that so they closed that part of the college. His M.S. and Ph.D. degrees are from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a fabulous institution which is still in existence despite Dr. Blechman’s best efforts.

Dr. Blechman has been at Oneonta since 1982. He has taught Introduction to Meteorology, Climatology, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, and Weather Analysis and Forecasting, among others. And, while some of his students find this hard to believe, he is the recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

In his spare time, Dr. Blechman has looked into lake effect snow and has published technical papers on the subject which have been read by a grand total of 5 people, all of whom were professional reviewers and were required to read them.
