Opportunities for Fall 2017

Each semester CSRC receives new volunteer job descriptions for area agencies and organizations. The Center can assist you in getting involved in volunteer opportunities that interest you or best suit your academic needs. It is important that you sign up through the Center in order to make certain that the agencies we work with are kept informed. Please stop by the Center in Alumni Hall 101C to see our list of volunteer opportunities or call a CSRC Coordinator at X-2651 or 2098 to sign up.

Note: Unless indicated, all volunteer opportunities listed below are ongoing. For one-time only events, stop by CSRC at 101C Alumni Hall.

JSA Hurricane Relief Fundraiser
Date: November 30th
Time: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
 Location: HIRC
Description: JSA will be selling cups of matcha green tea and hot chocolate for $1 each

Sigma Delta Tau Walk for Hurricane Relief
Date: November 29th
Time: 6-9pm
Location: Hunt Union Ballroom

One Time Events:

Making Cent$ of Life After College
Date: November 16th
Time: 4 pm - 8 pm
Location: 129 Netzer SUNY Oneonta Campus
Description: Assist the peers in navigating financial information

Pitch Slapped
Date: November 17th
Time: 6:30 pm - 9 pm
Location: Goodrich Theatre, SUNY Oneonta
Description: Collecting money as people arrive and selling baked goods
Volunteers Needed: 1

Gingerbread Jubilee Set Up
Date: Friday, December 1st
Time: 3 pm- 6 pm
Location: Foothills, 24 Market Street
Description: Decorating and setting up Foothills for the event the following day, other duties assigned
Volunteers Needed:1

Home for the Holidays Parade
Date: Saturday, December 2nd
Time: 9 am - 12 pm
Location: Main St./ Elm St.
Description: Assisting line up, walking as “security/safety, other duties assigned
Volunteers Needed: 5 -15

Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony
Date: Thursday, December 7th
Time: 4 pm- 9 pm
Location: Main St.
Description: Assisting in set up and clean up, activities, crowd control, other duties are assigned
Volunteers Needed: 7

St. Mary’s Church
Date: Saturday, December 9th
Time: 10:30 am – 1:30 pm
Location: 39 Walnut St.
Description: Assisting with arts and crafts, decorating cookies, helping wrap gifts
Volunteers Needed: 12

Ongoing Events:

Hearts of Hope
Location: Can Be Done Anywhere
Description:Great for clubs or organizations to participate in. Each ceramic heart kit costs four dollars. You receive each kit and paint them however you desire and then they are sent to a person who is on a waiting list for one.

Saturdays’ Bread
Dates: November 18th, 25th, December 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th
Time: 9:30am-1:30pm
Location: First United Methodist Church (66 Chestnut Street)
Description: Volunteers are asked to help with set-up, food preparation, serve food, and clean-up.
Volunteers Needed: 5

Salvation Army Church (Soup Kitchen)
Dates: November 19th, 26th, December 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st
Time: 2 pm -5pm
Location: 25 River St
Description: Volunteers are asked to help with set-up, food preparation, serve food, and clean up.
Volunteers Needed: 5

Lord’s Table
Date: November 30th, December 5th, 11th, 15th, 18th
Time: 4 pm - 6:15 pm
Location: 18 Elm Street
Description: Soup kitchen
Volunteers Needed: 3-5

Salvation Army Church (After School Program)
Dates: Wednesday's
Time: 4 pm - 6pm
Location: 25 River St
Description: Volunteers are needed to do arts and crafts with Children ages 5 -12. Volunteers must be able to work with children.
Volunteers Needed: 5-6

Blendos Health and Longevity Movement
Date: Sunday's until the end of December.
Time: 10 pm - 6 pm
Location: 4 Academy St.
Description: Helping set up and break down equipment before and after games recording games, keeping statistics and cleaning.
Volunteers Needed: 10

Robynwood Adopt a Grandparent
Date: Any day/time that you choose
ONGOING COMMITTED RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR “GRANDPARENT”
Location: 43 Walnut Street
Description: Volunteers are needed to commit to every week school is in session to visit with a resident at Robynwood.

Robynwood Adult Home Crafts
Date: Wednesday's
Time: 6:30pm
Location: 43 Walnut Street
Description: Volunteers are needed to commit to every week school is in session on Wednesdays to play board games with the residents. Volunteers Needed: 4

Robynwood Adult Coffee Hour
Dates: Thursday's
Time: 6:30pm
Location: 43 Walnut Street
Description: Volunteers are needed to commit to every week school is in session on Thursdays to sit and talk with the residents.
Volunteers Needed: 4

Robynwood Adult Home Movie Night
Dates: Friday's
Time: 6:30pm
Location: 43 Walnut Street
Description: Volunteers are needed to commit to every week school is in session on Fridays to watch a movie with the residents.

Robynwood Adult Home Reading
Date: Saturday's
Time: 10:15 am
Location: 43 Walnut Street
Description: Volunteers are needed to commit to every week school is in session on Saturdays at 10:15 to read to the residents. (Could be a group but just need at least one person there a week)

Robynwood Adult Home Games
Date: Sunday's
Time: 2pm
Location: 43 Walnut Street
Description: Volunteers are needed to commit to every week school is in session on Sundays at 2pm to play pool, ping pong, and/or darts with the residents.
