There are four Scholarships offered below:

The Albert S. and Alice House Nader Scholarships have been established in memory of Alice House Nader and to honor Albert "Sam" Nader for his dedication and service to the Oneonta community. These scholarships, endowed through gifts made by family and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Nader, can be awarded to an incoming freshman or a current student, and are renewable annually. Two scholarships will be awarded for a minimum amount of $850.00 each. Qualifying students must complete an application from the Center for Social Responsibility and Community. Students will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • students must be residents of Otsego, Chenango or Delaware County.
     

  • students must have demonstrated leadership in service to the community or indicate a strong desire to become involved in service.

Through the generosity of family and friends of Carol Henning Donovan, the Carol Henning Donovan Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the former community member and avid volunteer; and to provide assistance to an incoming freshman at SUNY College at Oneonta. The scholarship will be awarded in a minimum amount of $950.00 to recognize the contributions of a SUNY College at Oneonta freshman who meets the criteria listed below:

  • is enrolled full-time
     

  • has a high school G.P.A. of 3.0 or above
     

  • has been active in volunteer activities in your home community

Through the generosity of the SUNY Oneonta College Foundation, the Peg Cawley and Jean London Scholarships were established in 1994 to honor Peg Cawley, former SUNY Oneonta Librarian, and Jean London, former faculty member. Ms. Cawley and Ms.  London are committed to service in the community. Scholarships are given annually in the amount of $1250.00 each to provide assistance to current SUNY Oneonta students who have demonstrated a commitment to volunteerism. Scholarships will be awarded to recognize the contributions of freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors at SUNY Oneonta who meet the criteria listed below:

  • are enrolled full-time
     

  • have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or above
     

  • are active members of the Center for Social Responsibility and Community
     

  • have been active in volunteer activities on or off campus and in their home communities

 NEW SCHOLARSHIP

THE SEVA AWARD (Compassionate Service) is a new scholarship that has been established by Dr. Ashok Malhotra. Dr. Malhotra is a professor in the Philosophy department.   The minimum amount award will be $1,300.00 to one student.

The criteria is printed below:                                                    

First preference for this scholarship award will be given to students who are juniors or seniors who demonstrate a record of community service and continue to be involved in community service and volunteerism, who major or minor in Philosophy and who have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher.  If there are no Philosophy majors or minors who meet these criteria, then the scholarship may be awarded to students majoring in any of the academic programs offered by the College at Oneonta.  The maximum number of years a student may receive this scholarship award is two years.  This scholarship can be renewed annually, contingent upon the Awards Guidelines continuing to be met, and at the discretion of the designate indicated above.
