Information and Policies for Non-Degree Undergraduate (NDU) Students

Note: Students who previously attended SUNY Oneonta as a degree-seeking student should contact the Academic Advisement Office, Netzer 100 for information on readmission to the College.

All non-degree students must be accepted for admission through the Continuing Education Office. In order to be eligible to take courses as a non-degree undergraduate at the College at Oneonta, a student must have graduated High School, passed the GED or have a cumulative average of a 2.0 from the last college attended. If a student has been previously dismissed from either the College at Oneonta or another college they are not eligible to take courses as a non-degree student.

Students must submit an admission application, available at this link or in the Continuing Education Office, Netzer Administration Building, Room 135. (Directions to campus)

Application deadline is the Friday of the first week of classes for any semester.

Applications must be submitted to the Continuing Education Office, accompanied by

  • HSED or GED completion certificate, or
  • high school transcript showing award of diploma, or
  • transcripts from all post secondary institutions attended (a minimum, cumulative grade point average of 2.0 is required)

Admission as a non-degree undergraduate student does not guarantee:

  • future admission to a degree program.
  • availability of courses at the time of registration.

Policies:

Non-degree undergraduates may register for up to13 s.h. per semester and 6 s.h. each summer session.

Non-degree undergraduates may earn no more than 24 s.h. prior to admission as a degree-seeking student.

Non-degree undergraduates must take placement exams in writing, reading and/or math during orientation, which typically takes place two days prior to the start of each semester.

Non-degree students are required to maintain a 2.0 grade point average to be eligible to continue enrollment.

All new non-degree students are required to make an individual advisement appointment prior to enrolling in courses.  Continuing pre-matriculated non-degree undergraduates are strongly encouraged to meet with the advisor each semester.
