PAINTING WITH PASTELS

Hunt Union - Susquehanna Room
This class is for all those interested in drawing and painting with pastels. No prior experience with pastels is necessary. We will experiment with various pastel techniques to create landscapes and still life studies. Students should bring a box of 12 Artist's Soft Pastels. A $5.00 materials fee is payable to the instructor the first class day.

This class is for beginning and experienced artists. Students will learn watercolor techniques and interpretations using a variety of different subject matters such as still life, landscapes (from photos), animals and people. This course accomodates all student levels. Students need to bring a 9" X 12" watercolor pad to class. A materials fee of $15.00 per person will be payable to the instructor the first day of the class.

Bugbee Children's Center gym
The instructor will guide you to move from one pose to another on an inhale or exhale. This class is not just stretching, but movement that works on strength building and stretching. Class concludes with a deep final relaxation. Wear unrestrictive, comfortable clothing, bring a mat, water and avoid eating before each class. Practicing barefoot is preferred. All levels of experience are welcome.

Hatha Yoga helps build awareness of your body and mind while gently stretching and strengthening. Hatha is a slow-paced and gentle Yoga that provides a basic introduction to Yoga poses. Please do not wear any perfumes or scented lotions as some people are very sensitive to these. Wear unrestrictive, comfortable clothing, bring a mat, water and avoid eating before each class. Practicing barefoot is preferred.

WEST COAST SWING DANCE LESSONS

Come join us for 6 weeks of West Coast Swing! Open to anyone interested in a night of fun dancing. West Coast Swing involves the use of the entire body including body rolls, head whips, isolations and arm and hand movements. In West Coast Swing, more so than other dance, there is a definite feeling of union, merging, becoming one with the partner and the music. Please bring a pair of comfortable shoes, preferably soft soled, to help you glide on a hardwood floor and a bottle of water.

CHILDREN'S INTRO TO TAE-KWON DO

Build self confidence, modesty and courtesy while learning the basic white belt curriculum. For children ages 5-12, this course will introduce children to the basic tenenants of TAE-KWON DO. Please plan on arriving 5:30 and wear unrestricted comfortable clothing.

BELGIAN TRAPPIST BEER

Trappist Monasteries have been brewing beer since the early 11th century. No other style of brewing receives as many accolades, sustains more secrecy, and devotes more passion than the Belgian Trappist Ale. In this course we will discuss the history, ingredients, and process of Belgian Trappist brewing followed by a tasting. Must be 21 years of age and show proof of age at class.

This course will introduce you to the fundamentals of the craft beer brewing process through the discussions, tastings, and evaluations of several major beer styles from around the world. Specifically, you will learn the history, ingredients, and specific processes that accompany some of the most influential beers in the craft brew industry. You will also learn how to taste and evaluate beer based on the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) criteria: aroma, appearance, flavor, and mouthfeel.This course is composed of 3 sections: how to make beer; major beer styles; and a tasting. Students need to be at least 21 years of age.

COOKING FOR CANCER SURVIVAL

Human Ecology 139-Foods Lab
This class is designed for both the patient and primary home care provider of both newly diagnosed cancer patients, and those undergoing treatment for cancer. The goal of this class is to provide practical information and experience cooking for cancer patients. Students will learn about nutrition and dietary needs of those undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy for cancer. Demonstation and hands on cooking course.

This four week, workshop style class offers helpful information, forms and guidance for graduating seniors and area families to create their own financial plan consisting of a monthly cash flow plan, debt elimination plan and savings plan. NOTE: this class is no intended for those experiencing serious financial difficulties requiring in-depth debt counseling or seeking investment advice.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSES

The Point and Insurance Reduction Program (PIRP). This 6 hour course helps refresh your driving knowledge with a review of safe driving tips. By taking the course you may be eligible to reduce as many as four (4) points on your driving record. If you are the principle operator of a motor vehicle, you can receive a minimum 10% reduction in base rate to your automobile policy each year for three years (check with your insurance company to see if reduction applies). Course consists of instructor lecture, video demonstrations, voluntary audience participation. Registration and payment should be received at least one week prior to first class date.

This course fulfills the NYS 5 hour pre-licensing course mandated by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. Students must successfully complete this course before scheduling a road test. Student that successfully complete this course will be awarded course certificate (MV-278). You must provide certificate number when you schedule your road test.
