Here are some helpful tidbits that we have compiled over the years:
1. Low-priced accommodations available are on
campus in Morris Hall in case of inclement weather. If you’re ever stuck on campus because of the weather OR if you find
that you cannot commute all the way home and return to campus after an
evening program, you should keep in mind that Morris Hall has dorm-style rooms
for rent there that are outfitted with all linens (there is a shared
bathroom). They do not generally accept walk-ins (except when there is a
snow emergency).
To make a reservation, call 436-2079 before 4:00 p.m. M-F.
2. WEATHER LINE
If the weather is bad, call 436-2000 to find out about
cancellations. You can check road conditions at http://www.travelinfony.com/wta.
3. Dial-up Internet Access
As part of
the tech fee you pay, you have access to dial-up internet access. You
need an Oneonta username and password to access this service. It may be
slower than cable or DSL, but it’s reliable. Find out more at Schumacher
Helpdesk (436-4567).
4. Lockers are
available on campus.
Human Ecology has a men’s and a women’s locker room. You must let
the Human Ecology secretary, Ann Steen, know which locker you are using.
You have to provide your own lock.
Athletics has locker rooms in both Chase Gym and the Field House.
These are available free of charge. You just have to take your student
ID over to Alumni Field House equipment room and they will sign you up
for a locker—you can request one in either building. Again, you
have to provide your own lock.
5. Childcare
The on-campus childcare center is
SUCO Children's Center, which can be reached by calling (607) 436-2484.
The YMCA has both formal and informal childcare options. You do not have to be a resident of Oneonta to use the Y. The
YMCA’s number is 432-0010.
