Cooperstown Graduate Program

events overview

School and local events offer diversions from classwork. These activities enhance students’ relationships with one another, with local museums, and with the surrounding community.

CGP's partner institutions, the New York State Historical Association and The Farmers' Museum, hold a number of annual programs, and students are encouraged to participate. These events, including Harvest Festival, Teachers' Conference, and History Day, provide first hand experience in museum programming, and the opportunity to get to know the museums and local communities.

Many students choose to participate in local activities because they enjoy the connection with the Cooperstown community. Each year students enter a team in the annual lip synch contest during Cooperstown's weekend-long Winter Carnival. This chance to have fun and perform for the town has become a favorite way for students to de-stress during January and February. Students also join athletic teams at the Clark Sports Center and others volunteer within the community to help other non-profit organizations.

CGP and CGA events also provide opportunities for experience and interaction with the community. These include the annual Buckley Lecture, the biannual CGA Conference, and annual CGA Fall Workshop Series.
