CGA conference
Every other fall the Cooperstown Graduate Association (CGA), the alumni organization of the Cooperstown Graduate Program, sponsors a scholarly symposium. The CGA sends out a call for papers in the spring preceding the conference and frequently receives submissions from nationally known historians and material culture scholars as well as students from graduate programs in a variety of disciplines.
The conference also includes a series of optional hands-on workshops on topics ranging from hearth-oven bread baking and fantasy pumpkin carving, to Native American beading, Russian punch embroidery, and folk art painting.
The 2006 conference, "Folk Art - New Interpretations," was held on October 27th and 28th. To see an overview of the conference, open the brochure
