Wagner enters her second season at the helm of the Oneonta State Softball program. After stepping in mid-year the team finished with an 11-25 record overall with many new faces including 11 freshmen in contrast to only two seniors. However, after some heavy recruiting and rebuilding, the future of Oneonta State Softball looks promising. Before joining the Athletic Department at Oneonta State, Wagner served as an assistant coach at Division I Harvard University in Boston during the 2003 and 2004 seasons. Prior to that she spent the 2002 season as the graduate assistant coach at Troy University in Alabama, also a Division I program. She worked primarily with pitchers and outfielders at both schools while also assisting in practice planning, conditioning of athletes, game management, and office administration. While serving as a G.A. at Troy University she worked on her Masters of Business Administration degree (MBA) which she later completed in 2004.

A 1993 graduate of nearby Sidney Central School, Wagner earned an athletic scholarship to play softball for the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She graduated from UMass in 1998 with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design and a concentration in Architecture. Wagner and her UMass teammates won four Atlantic-10 Conference Championships and captured two NCAA Northeast Regional Titles. During her junior and senior seasons she and her teammates competed in the Division I Women’s College World Series (WCWS) in Oklahoma City, finishing amongst the top 8 teams in the nation. In 1996, Wagner finished with a 1.08 ERA overall, ranking her 22nd nationally amongst all Division I pitchers. The same year, her 0.23 ERA and 5-0 record in conference play earned her the Atlantic-10 Pitcher of the Year honor as well as an A-10 All Conference distinction. In 1997 Wagner threw her first collegiate no-hitter and in 1998 she threw a perfect game while leading the A-10 Conference with a 0.71 ERA. Wagner was an integral part of a UMass pitching staff which consistently ranked in the Top 10 nationally from 1996-1998, topping out in the #2 spot in 1998. She is still, arguably, the most accurate pitcher in UMass history holding the all-time career record for fewest walks per 7 innings (1.15). Wagner finished her tenure at UMass with a record of 31 wins and 16 losses along with a 1.48 career ERA in 63 appearances on the mound. In 1999 Wagner had a stint playing professional softball in Parma, Italy for Robuschi Softball of the Italian Federation of Baseball and Softball where she pitched and played first base when not on the mound. She had the opportunity to compete against players from Italy, Australia, Japan, and China, to name a few. Wagner recently joined the Physical Education department at Oneonta State as a lecturer and is actively serving on several department committees. She is currently the Secretary for the SUNYAC Softball Conference and a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association (NFCA).
