Medici enters his sixth season at the helm of the Oneonta State men’s basketball program.  Last season the squad registered a 16-10 record overall while finishing tied for first in the SUNYAC with a record of 11-5.

The success of the 2008-09 season produced two All-Conference selections as senior Ryan Morin and junior Michael Grimes were named to the second team.

Medici came to Oneonta after having spent the previous nine years at the helm of the men’s basketball program at Hudson Valley Community College.  During his tenure he amassed a 166-84 record while leading his squads to

nine consecutive NJCAA Region III Tournaments.  His teams appeared in three regional championship games and captured the 1998-99 title and participated in the national tournament.  His teams also won two Mountain Valley Conference championships and he was selected as the Coach of the Year at the conclusion of the 1999-2000 season.  Medici has also earned District I Coach of the Year honors at the end of the 1998-99 season.

Medici was an assistant coach at Sage Junior College of Albany prior to taking over the head coaching duties at HVCC.  He spent 17 years as a physical education teacher at Greenwich Elementary School and has worked various basketball camps during his summers.

Medici is a 1987 graduate of Cortland where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education.  He received a Master of Science degree in health education from Russell Sage College in 1994.  Medici currently resides in Latham, N.Y. with his wife, Ann and their three children.

Assistant Coach - Keith Thompson

Thompson will enter his second year as member of coach Medici's staff and brings a wealth of coaching experience with him.

A multi-sport athlete while in College, Thompson played both basketball and baseball at SUNY-Delhi and was a member of the 1988 Hartwick College basketball team that won the Eastern Regional Championship and advanced to the NCAA Div. III Final Four.

His coaching experience includes one year as an assistant coach at Oneonta State along with 10 years as an assistant at Hartwick. Thompson also served as head coach at Morris high school for three years.

Thompson earned a degree in Elementary Education from Oneonta State in 1999 with Cum Laude honors and went on to earn his masters from the University of New England in 2004. He is currently employed by the Sherburne Earlville School District as an Elementary Science teacher.
