Shaping a Creative Universe
The visual arts represent one of the basic means of human communication. In its courses, programs, and facilities the SUNY Oneonta Art Department provides undergraduates with a solid foundation in the methods and theories in the creation and study of the visual arts. The department offers a range of courses, from introductory to advanced in:
Design • Drawing • Painting • Sculpture • Printmaking • New Media • Digital Art • Graphic Design • 3D Modeling & Animation • Web Design • Artist's Books • Art History • Photography
In and outside the classroom, students have the opportunity to engage with the secrets of art, and to cultivate their talent in small classes guided by award winning professors. State of the art studios, exhibition spaces, and computer art labs support a thriving community of nearly three hundred art students.
The Art Department offers majors in Art (B.A. and B.S.) and Computer Art (B.A. and B.S), and is firmly committed to Liberal Arts education while at the same time it recognizes the pre-professional interests of many students. To this end, it offers a tightly integrated curriculum that recognizes the value of Fine Art both as an end in itself, and as an integral part of creative careers.
