The visual arts represent one of the basic means of human communication. In its courses, programs, and facilities the Art Department provides undergraduates with a solid foundation in the methods and theories in the creation and study of the visual arts. The department offers a range of experiences from introductory to advanced courses in Studio Art and Art History. Students have the opportunity to explore drawing, two- and three- dimensional design, ceramics, computer art, sculpture, photography, painting, and printmaking, and they may study major periods, themes, and critical issues of Art History. They also are exposed to the new technologies and perspectives that are radically changing the way art is being made and studied. A state of the art computer art lab supports a rapidly expanding computer art area. The Art Department is firmly committed to Liberal Arts education. It
consequently offers majors in Studio Art (B.A. only) and Computer Art
(B.A. and B.S). At the same time, the department recognize the pre-professional
interests of many students. |
