Objectives
|
The visual arts represent one of the basic means of human communication. In its courses, programs, and facilities the Art Department provides undergraduates with a solid foundation in the methods and theories in the creation and study of the visual arts. The department offers a range of experiences from introductory to advanced courses in Studio Art, Computer Art, and Art History. The Art facilities were recently renovated to accommodate the education of about three hundred students who chose Art and Computer Art as their major. The department's three state-of-the-art computer labs serve students who study 3-D Modeling and Animation, Graphic and Web Design, Digital Paint and Print, as well as Photography and Video. Modern Art studios accommodate the needs of students who focus on Drawing, Design, Printmaking, Painting, Sculpture, and Art History. Professors are also professional artists who lead each area in small classes designed to foster the creative talents of each individual student. The Art Department is firmly committed to Liberal Arts education while at the same time it recognize the pre-professional interests of many students. It consequently offers majors in Studio Art and Computer Art. It
