Computer Art

Student Work - YuenThe Computer Art courses cover a wide range of the digital realm, and they continually evolve to incorporate the latest technological innovations as they pertain to Art.

The classes offered provide a thorough understanding of how the computer can be used as an art tool, and they cover such topics as Raster and Vector Imaging, 3D Modeling & Animation, Digital Photography, Digital Video, Web and Graphic Design.

Facilities

Our state-of-the-art Computer Art Labs provide the perfect platform for the demanding computer art classes. Currently there are two fully equiped studios, while a third one is awaiting funding.

The Computer Art studios are comprised of Macintosh computers on a high speed network, projection systems, large format color printer, digital still and video cameras, scanners, and a wide variety of industry-standard software. Computer Art Lab A is equiped with twenty 21" Cintiq tablets, while lab C is equiped with eighteen Pencil Test Bundle stations.

Student WorkSoftware installed in our labs includes: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, inDesign, Bridge, Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Premiere, After Effects, Acrobat Pro), Autodesk Maya, Apple Final Cut Studio HD (Final Cut Pro, Motion, Live Type, Soundtrack, DVD Studio Pro), Corel Draw, Painter, FlipBook.

The lab is open throughout the day and lab assistants are available to assist the students.

The art department offers a Major in Computer Art which leads to a BA or a BS degree, as well as a Minor in Computer Art.
