Sculptural Studies

Student Work - CovieloThe 3D and Sculpture area of SUNY Oneonta offers a variety of courses designed to expose the student to both traditional and contemporary techniques of space manipulation.

Our fully equipped 3D studios allow the students to engage a wide range of materials and techniques, and the instruction is focused on letting the student challenge their own aesthetic boundaries in a environment conducive to exploration and creativity.

3D Facilities

Student at workThe facilities of the 3D area are comprised of the sculpture suite that includes a fully equipped woodshop, metal shop, plaster and wax rooms, a 3D computer lab with rapid prototyping, CNC plasma cutter, CNC router, a fully equipped metal foundry building, a fully equipped ceramics studio, and a kiln building (with two large capacity gas kilns and electric kilns).

The students can take advantage of the equipment in these rooms to create sculpture in stone, bronze, steel, wood, clay, and computer modeling among the myriad of possibilities.
