A new faculty member, Dr. Tracy Betsinger, will
be joining our department in the Fall 2008 semester. Dr. Betsinger is a
biological anthropologist who received her Ph.D. from Ohio State University
(2007), specializing in skeletal biology and bioarchaeology. Welcome Tracy!
Our 2007 Archaeology Field School was profiled
in a recent article in the Daily Star in Oneonta. Click

10 members of the
Anthropology Club attended the annual meeting of the
American
Association of Physical Anthropologists
in Philadelphia in March 2007 along with
Dr. John Relethford.
SUCO students during the summer 2006 Primate
Behavior and Conservation Field Course taught by
Kim Dingess
participated in various conservation initiatives in Costa Rica. At Manuel
Antonio National Park, they were involved in various fund raising activities
and also received a certificate for supporting the installation of an
arboreal pathway, a “monkey bridge,” for the highly endangered Central
American squirrel monkey. As only a few hundred are remaining, monkey
bridges provide invaluable corridors for connecting their fragmented
habitat.

We are delighted to announce that our new faculty
member,
Dr. Sallie
Han, will be joining our department in the Fall 2006 semester!
