Minors offered by ALS

Minor in Africana and Latino Studies

The department also offers an 18 s.h. minor that is compatible with many majors. For the minor students must take the core courses--ALS 100 & ALS 395-- and at least one course from 3 separate categories:

1) literature, philosophy, drama, music, popular culture;

2) history, anthropology, human ecology; and

3) other social sciences (e.g., politics. geography); interdisciplinary courses

Our multidisciplinary courses fill in the detail, the rich social context in which business, the government and social institutions function. Our Elementary Education Concentration (for Education majors) offers a 24 s.h. concentration in Africana and Latino Studies. The concentration satisfies the liberal arts requirement for New York State certification.
