SPRING 2013 Faculty Led Short term Study Abroad Course
Thursday, 14 Feb 2013-- Arrive Accra, afternoon or evening. Check-in Miklyn Hotel, E. Legon

Friday, 15 Feb 2013 –Mokola Market, “urban drop-off” experience;  visit nearby Arts Centre (crafts); then walking tour of old Accra/Jamestown-Bukom, Lighthouse, Nkrumah Monument. Debriefing @ night.

Saturday, 16 Feb 2013 – Morn lecture by Mr. Ansah, CEO-TV Africa, tour/short film showing;
After lunch, lecture by Dr. Oduro-Frimpong on Ghallwood, urban life in videos & social media @ Ashesi university. Evening: Azonto lessons with Kweku

Sunday, 17 Feb 2013 – Travel to Kumasi via Koforidua & Kwabeng where we have a reception with Kwabeng Council of Elders, Check-in Park Towers Hotel, KNUST. Debriefing.

Monday, 18 Feb 2013 -- 8:30-11:30 : Lecture & performance from Dr. Amponsah  (Agya Koo Nimo) & Addadam Agofomma dance troup. Box lunch, Manhyia Palace & Kumasi market. Travel to Cape Coast afternoon & check-in Sasakawa Annex, Univ of Cape Coast.

Tuesday, 19 Feb 2013 – Morning lecture on Slave trade: Impact, resistance & memories by Dr. Opoku-Agyemang, English Dept & Dir of Grad Studies, UCC. Afternoon visit to Cape Coast CastleDinner Sasaskawa. Naming ceremony with Mr Mensah & drumming @ Elmina Beach.

Wednesday, 20 Feb 2013 – Morning lecture on economic and ecological sustainability Dr. Kofi Sam, followed by  field visit to Essaman village, site of women’s palm oil production. Afternoon: we visit Elmina Castle, followed by walking tour of Elmina town.

Thursday, 21 Feb 2013 – individualized field study and student conducted interviews: UCC primary & jr. secondary schools, road market, sustainability projects, castle staff interviews. Kakum Forest visit. In the evening drive back to Accra.

Friday, 22 Feb 2013 – Visit to Ghanaian Parliament, view session, funeral oration  for Econ Min. by Pres. Mahama. Lunch in Osu. Debriefing in the evening.

Saturday 23 Feb 2013 – tour National Arts Museum,W.E.B. Dubois Center. Individual projects continue.

Sunday 24 Feb 2013 – Church or dance lesson; Visit Sherifa Gunu’s home, Accra. Lecture & Performance

Monday 25 Feb 2013 – Craft markets, final debriefing. Final dinner 5 pm. 6 pm head to Kotoka Airport for departure to NYC.
