Facilities & Special Resources

Studio A
Studio A is a medium sized TV facility primarily designed for news
production. Students produce a weekly news program ³Oneonta News Express²
and course related programs in this space. Studio A is a 3 camera, wide
screen digital facility, which utilizes the Grass Valley Parkervision
robotic camera system, Grass Valley Kayak DD1 switcher and Yamaha DM1000
audio mixer.

TV Studio B

Our production-related facilities include an audio studio, a fully-operational TV production complex, and a mobile production unit. Also in the TV complex, there are editing suites, including a Media 100 digital editing unit, and several CCD camcorders.

Studio B is a more traditional operation facility, with 5 digital cameras (4 Ikagami HK-377 cameras, as well as a Cannon XL-H1 for our camera crane). Studio B¹s control room houses our Sony MVS-8000 video switcher, as well as our YamahaDM-1000 audio mixer. Teleprompter, graphics and video playback ability are also an integral part to our control rooms.

Control Room B

The Mobile Production Truck

SUNY Oneonta is the only 4 year college in the SUNY system to own its own
mobile production unit. Students use the mobile production unit to
travel to locations on and off campus to produce a variety of live
productions including sports, debates and other entertainment
programming. The MPU features all digital equipment and a 42ft
telescopic mast for transmission.

Media 100 Editing Suit

Audio Studio

The department has three camcorders and three VCR's with monitors at its immediate disposal for classroom teaching. Currently plans are being made to develop a complete multi-media classroom/workshop to enable integration of the substantive computer technology into classroom instruction. Every department faculty member has access to either his or her own computer or one in the main office for development of teaching materials. Many faculty have adopted use of computer e-mail to communicate easily with students and even to accept student assignments.

Non-Linear Edit Suites
The post-production editing facilities feature Macintosh computers with
Final Cut Pro Studio video editing software. Also housed in this room
is a voice over recording booth with Adobe Audition, where students can
record and edit audio for their productions. This edit suite is open
24/7 with your school ID, so students have the ability to work on
projects when it is convenient for them.
